BBI and the Taylor Family, Sponsored Three Homes in Pompano Beach’s Collier City Neighborhood

Three out of the four hard-working families received the keys to their brand-new homes thanks to Habitat for Humanity and the sponsorship of BBI and the Taylor family.

On Saturday, June 18, we celebrated the efforts of four hard-working families and those who gave them a hand up in achieving the American dream of homeownership. BBI and The Robert Taylor family empowered three families with their support and made this dream a reality.

Habitat’s mission is to put God’s love into action to build homes, communities, and hope. The homes dedicated were part of a vision to build a vital community in Collier City, Florida, developed by the City of Pompano Beach’s Community Redevelopment Agency. The city provided nine lots to Habitat, offset construction costs, and provided down payment assistance to achieve this. During the home dedication, we heard from two community leaders: the City of Pompano Beach Mayor, Rex Hardin, and District 5 Commissioner, Cyndy Floyd.

The three families we had the pleasure to celebrate were:

Lashon Dicks family

Laverne Wilson and Willie Fletcher

Tameeka Jackson and her mother, Cynthia Queen

Our CEO, Robert Taylor stated, “You don’t have to go big; you can start small. You can work on a site, which is always a great way to start because you really learn about what Habitat’s all about. You learn who we’re serving, and once you get a taste of swinging a hammer with people who are going to be future Habitat owners, it’s addictive.”

So many Broward County residents cannot afford a safe, decent place to live and suffer the uncertainty and trauma of unstable housing. But if this community teaches us anything, it is that change is possible.

We wanted to thank all the BBI employees and our special guest, WQAM Sports Radio Host – Joe Rose, who joined us to celebrate these families. Knowing they will now wake up daily in their own homes and realize their dream come true is simply remarkable.
