BBI Attends CAVC Legislative Day in Sacramento

BBI’s Unattended Retail team joined industry leaders in Sacramento to advocate for the future of unattended retail.

Last week, Scott O’Neil and Lisa Mattias from BBI’s West Unattended Retail team traveled to Sacramento to participate in the California Automatic Vendors Council (CAVC) Legislative Day at the State Capitol. The event brought together industry leaders from across the state to advocate on behalf of California’s vending, micro market, and convenience services industry.

Lisa Mattias, Regional Manager – West on BBI’s Unattended Retail team, is also serving as President of CAVC this year, further strengthening BBI’s leadership and involvement within the organization. CAVC plays a key role in advancing and protecting the industry by maintaining strong relationships with legislators and monitoring policies that impact operators, employees, and consumers throughout California.

During the event, the team met directly with lawmakers and staff to discuss the real-world operational impact of two proposed bills, AB 1883 and AB 1331. These bills could significantly restrict surveillance and loss prevention technologies used in unattended retail environments, including micro markets, and may impact the ability to operate these solutions within California.

Through ongoing advocacy and engagement, BBI remains committed to supporting the growth and sustainability of the unattended retail industry.
