The Sales Support Manager is responsible for owning and leading the Sales Support department, ensuring the team delivers accurate, timely, and scalable support that enables Sales and the broader organization to succeed. This role is accountable for staffing, performance management, process excellence, and operational results. The Sales Support Manager leads through a Sales Support Team Lead, who executes daily initiatives and quality control, allowing the Manager to focus on strategic direction, cross-functional leadership, and continuous improvement. This role works closely with the Director of Support, Sales Leadership, and the SVP to drive performance, resolve root-cause issues, and support business growth.
Recipe for Success:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Sales Support, Sales Operations, or an administrative support role.
- At least 3 years of experience managing or leading administrative or sales support teams.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and performance management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (intermediate to advanced), SharePoint, Salesforce, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Experience with process improvement, workflow optimization, and SOP development.
- Familiarity with sales reporting, commissions, billing, and CRM or third-party tools.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment with competing priorities.
Here is a taste of what you will be doing:
Department Leadership & Ownership
- Own the overall performance, structure, and scalability of the Sales Support department.
- Establish department goals, KPIs, service standards, and performance expectations.
- Ensure the team is appropriately staffed and equipped to meet business demand.
- Provide leadership and direction to the Sales Support Team Lead and broader support team.
People Leadership & Performance Management
- Hire, onboard, train, and develop Sales Support team members.
- Conduct performance reviews, coaching, and corrective action as needed.
- Build a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
- Develop future leaders within the department, including the Sales Support Team Lead.
Operational Strategy & Process Excellence
- Design, implement, and continuously improve sales support processes, workflows, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Own root-cause analysis for recurring issues and drive permanent, scalable solutions.
- Use reporting, data, and audits to monitor accuracy, productivity, and service quality.
Sales Operations & Reporting
- Oversee commissions, billing, and sales reporting to ensure accuracy and timely delivery.
- Manage third-party reporting partners and resolve data or system issues.
- Provide reporting and insights to Sales Leadership and Senior Leadership to support decision-making.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Events
- Serve as the primary Sales Support liaison to Sales Leadership, Operations, and Finance.
- Partner with the Director of Support and SVP to support strategic initiatives and business priorities.
- Participate in Senior Leadership meetings and provide updates, insights, and execution support.
- Lead Sales Support contributions to Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs).
Leadership Through the Team Lead
- Set priorities, expectations, and goals for the Sales Support Team Lead.
- Review team performance, audit results, and operational trends.
- Ensure alignment between frontline execution and departmental objectives.
