BBI Sponsors Habitat for Humanity Mural to Be Showcased by the End of Summer

Thanks to the partnership between the Business for the Arts of Broward (BFA), Habitat for Humanity Broward, and BBI, the renowned artist, Evoca1 is ready to begin his creative work at the Habitat ReStore showcasing a new curated mural and lighting project.

The wait is over, and the Dominican artist Elio Mercado – Evoca1 is ready to begin planning the execution of the mural that will live at the Habitat ReStore located in Fort Lauderdale, FL.

After a series of creative events organized by the Business for the Arts of Broward (BFA), which included:

Introducing Evoca1 (the artist) to the Habitat's future homeowners and asking for their feedback.

The artist engagement with Habitat kids, from toddlers to older teens. The artist asked the children what their vision of "home" looked like, the younger children drew pictures, and the older wrote poems or creative statements. Some of their big themes included – a safe place to play, somewhere to be with family and friends, and the security of a stable home.

The artist received surveys with community ideas at Habitat's ReStore. The outreach activity offered prizes to customers who participated by responding to a survey in the store or online.

Evoca1 is taking all ideas and community feedback to create a concept for the Habitat wall. Once the sketch is approved, the artist will start painting the mural, which will live in a bustling intersection on Broward boulevard with thousands of vehicles crossing daily.

BBI is proud to partner with BFA,
Habitat for Humanity Broward, and support local artists to remind the community of Habitat for Humanity's impact on the fight for social justice.

The mural is anticipated to be completed by the end of August at the target timeline.
